Patent granted for our Click Al5 and Al7 roof hooks

With the publication of patent specification DE 10 2023 000 784 B4, we have been granted protection for our aluminium roof hooks Click Al5 and Al7. Both versions are very popular with solar installers and have been used thousands of times to mount PV substructures on pitched roofs. Each hook consists of a base plate, an arm and a clip. During installation, the clip permanently connects all three parts.

Click instead of screw

First, the arm is screwed onto the rafter together with the base plate. Because roof battens and tiles often vary in height, the arm can be slid into the base plate at three different heights and also shifted sideways. With other roof hooks, these movable parts then have to be screwed tight, which takes time. On the Al5 and Al7, a curved clip does the job: one firm press with the heel of the hand is enough, the clip's locking lugs snap into place and the clip stays under tension.

The upper holding point of the clip sits where the foot merges into the bend of the arm. As a result, the load of the modules also acts on the foot with less leverage.

An idea from the construction site

"We looked at where we could improve installation and made changes exactly there," says Tom Leyendecker, our Technical Director and inventor of the patented design. "The screws for fixing the arm were one of those places. They take time, and they are hard to reach on a pitched roof. With the clip, the arm sits perfectly after one firm press."

The right roof hook for every roof

In addition to the Click series, we offer further roof hooks for different roofs and loads: the aluminium Vario range with continuous height adjustment for light to high loads, the Al2-F with a particularly flat arm for flat tiles, steel roof hooks for large-format tiles and special roof hooks for plain tile (beaver tail) roofs.
